• Academic Experience: I am pre nursing with only three more courses until I can apply for the actual nursing program, which will be for the year 2015. I think it is an incredibly challenging course load and the program is absolutely intense. However, it is absolutely imperative that we prove a high level of competency when people's lives are in our hands.
• Academic Experience: There are several members in financial aid, academic affairs, registration, the help desks, the library, the registrar, etc. They are all very helpful and work together very hard to help resolve any grievances or challenges we may face. I think they offer the ideal amount of support.
• Student Body: Not something I place a whole lot of observation into, but there is a lot of diversity at NHTI, I would feel safe to say.
• Campus Resources: There are several opportunities for students all across the board with variated interests and areas of speciality. It was really, really impressive to see all the clubs and organizations.
• Campus Resources: The school computers are old and slow. There are only a couple computer labs that are open to everyone most are classrooms. The network is unreliable, and the internet is unbearably slow. I use my personal laptop as often as possible, but avoiding school computers isn't always feasible.
• Campus Resources: There is a brand new library, bookstore and student center. The school is growing very fast and is trying hard to modernize buildings and beautify the campus. I've been here a few years and the changes are quite dramatic. There is a fireplace, pool tables, TVs etc. in the student center, lots of activities. My personal favorite is when the drama students put on plays.Despite improvements, most buildings are very old and dated and this is very problematic at times.
• Campus Quality: NHTI opened a new building a few years ago, Grappone Hall, which is LEED certified. Very green building, and the best on campus. Farnum Hall is for the IT program, and has a lot of high-end equipment, like Cisco routers and phones for the networking and VoIP classes. The Bistro in Sweeney Hall has a Subway restaurant.
• Academic Experience: NHTI's IT program is terrific. The department head and his professors are very knowledgeable and eager to help. The school pays for a premium subscription to Microsoft's DreamSpark in which Microsoft provides their software, except Office, to IT students at no cost to them. I've gotten more than $30,000 in software through DreamSpark including Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate which retails for around $12,000.The courses are mostly well balanced. The school is very Microsoft focused, while the IT program has a definite Android bias. I wish I could take a course on iOS programming or learn more about Apple products and their ecosystem but it's not offered. Depending on your concentration (Networking or Application Development) there are many certifications you can achieve, most notably Ciscos CCENT and CCNA certifications and CompTIAs A+. NHTI is a Cisco Academy.*(4)
