• I'm an Anthropology major, and Hartwick has a great program that I've really taken to. The department is small, but with a good group of professors who are all passionate about their work, anything can happen. A large variety of courses are offered considering the small size of the major, and non-majors help contribute to enthusiasm over the department. The close knit community fosters growth in the Anthropology field, and networking is very possible. The active Anthropology club gives us a voice on campus, and involvement with international organizations is common. The Yager Museum provides a plethora of archival artifacts, and the Pine Lake Field School gives an opportunity for Archaeology specialists to get experience.
• I chose Hartwick College because of the great study abroad programs, small class sizes, and gorgeous views atop Oyaron Hill. I like having so many opportunities to go places, network, and get job experience. The vibe of the campus is very laid back, with a small town heart. The professors know all their students well, and are enthusiastic about teaching.
• The Biology department is challenging in terms of workload and requirements and offers j term opportunities in foreign environments, intern opportunities and helps with job placement.
• Hartwick has a good reputation for its academic programs which is why I chose it. Courses are challenging which prepares students for their subject area and enables them to compete with others for desired positions and entrance into the best grad schools. Classes are relatively small and students get lots of personal attention and opportunity for extra help as needed.
• Being a music major isn't very common at Hartwick College, but I mostly enjoy it that way. We receive a lot of individual attention and our professors are almost always available, any time of day, on campus or not. The music department is a very tight-knit group and has a great atmosphere about it.
• Hartwick is a very expensive school, and for me i feel that it is worth it, just because i enjoy the people i am around. My professors are amazing, and love what they do, the staff is super helpful and usually on top of their game. Don't get my wrong though, It has it's problems. The stairs sometimes don't get shoveled and the buildings are a little cruddy, but Hartwick has it's charms. The campus is beautiful and the education is worth it. I have been here for two years and i have only come across one teacher i didn't like. It is not a college for everybody, but i feel that the people and the experiences are definitely worth it.
• I absolutely love the English Department. The classes are really helpful and the professors are great. I have learned a lot.
• I am a double major in art and Spanish Ed. and it is very busy since I need 51 art credits in the appropriate places and 31 for Spanish along with about 8 classes for education. It is busy but the teachers help you through it and your advisors help to keep you on track to reaching your goals.
• The professors are caring and helpful. The academic standards are high and a lot is expected of the students, but there are many ways to get help and improve their grades.
• I came to Hartwick College to be a part of a respected Nursing program and a loveable community. The professors are amazing, they know their students by name and truly care about each one. Class discussions are frequent and fun because of the small class sizes. The cirriculum and workload is demanding but very do-able with the proper work ethic.* (5)
