伦斯勒理工学院艺术系（Department of the Arts）成立于1972年，是公认的美国研究型大学里首家开设电子艺术项目的学校。*(1)

伦斯勒理工艺术系与工作室，即今日所指的伦斯勒理工一体化电子艺术（iEAR），开设的电子艺术硕士项目（MFA）设立于1991年，随之结合了伦斯勒理工语言、文学和传播系，新的项目——电子媒体、艺术与传播理学学士（BS）在1996年设立。1998年和2002年又相继出现了信息技术学士（BS）和电子艺术学士（BS）。2007年，游戏与仿真艺术与科学学士（BS）项目首次招收第一批学生和博士生。

伦斯勒理工学院艺术系开设有电子艺术本科和研究生项目，并与传播与媒体系联合开设了电子媒体、艺术与传播学士项目。学系导师开设的研究领域有：
