• Student Body: There is a lot of diversity at the college. Many of my classmates were exchange students from other countries such as Nigeria and the Ukraine. Some students are fresh out of high school while others are parents and full-time workers as well as students.
• Campus Resources: The College Of Lake County has many resources available to its students. They have 2 libraries many campus activities. everything there is great.
• Campus Resources: The only "resources" that I used at this institution were the gym and the library when I had to type a paper. The gym was standard, not overwhelming but it was able to provide me with a surrounding that I could do my workouts in. The library was pretty nice, and I was able to get my papers typed in a quiet environment.
• Campus Resources: The library is usually available for source materials and online resources are pretty straightforward and helpful for group or individual projects. It also provides a good work area for homework, group project outlining, and the staff can be helpful in looking for what you need.
• Academic Experience: I went here solely for gen-eds and such, so nothing to really offer about taking a specific major. I ended up taking 17 credits first semester and 13 credits second semester, and the workload wasn't too bad at all. So long as you're able to stay on top of things, its definitely achievable to do heavy credit-loads. The curriculum was better for some classes than others, but then again, there is often more work needed in some classes than others, so this is understandable.
• Academic Experience: The professors were great, and I never seemed to have a negative experience with any of them (although for some, the lectures were boring and seemingly useless in the long-run). Curriculum varied with each class, and as would be suspected, the math and science classes had the most to be done. Nothing bad though, so no worries here. The one thing that angered me with really my entire experience here was when a class was cancelled for me in the fall semester. I had planned to take five transferrable classes in the fall, but one ended up being cancelled, and I was notified one or two days before the fall semester started. The really fun part was scrambling over to Grayslake to find another class that was transferrable, as well as still open that late in the process. In the end it all worked out, and I was able to take all the classes I needed in the fall and spring. But that is still a crappy situation to be in.
• Academic Experience: My experience for learning my major (which is accounting) was average one semester, but great for another semester. For the first semester, my financial accounting teacher was okay at explaining subject matter and what to expect for the test, but he didn't seem to connect well with the class, or understand that some of us work and go to school at the same time. My managerial accounting teacher was great though. He was understanding, gave you extra help at his office hours, offered advice and in my case, a recommendation for a scholarship. It really depended on what kind of teacher I had, which shaped my experience of the program workload.*(4)
