- Campus Resources: They are small, so they are limited and probably have a limited budget as well, but the faculty and personnel there are absolutely top notch, from my own experience. The free tutoring is nice, the student services department is very helpful and kind, and some of the best professors I will ever have are working there, and small class sizes boost that aspect. I'm not much of a socialite, since my studies have been pretty demanding of me from the start, but there is a student union and a nice fine arts center(they also have xbox360's there in the union, and if you want you can bring your own games and chill there if you've got time). The atmosphere of the place is pretty laid-back and casual, unintimidating, and very nurturing to a student who really wants to learn something and get good grades, and applying for scholarships was easy there (just ask student services for the universal scholarship forum, it's only like 4 pages). My favorite thing, geographically, is that the campus is less than a mile from the town's very nice and sizable park, where sometimes I throw disk golf between classes and chat with friends.
- Campus Resources: The network is pretty reliable. All of the student used computers can save to this universal file that all computers run on, so if a student is using the last computer you were on, you can go to a different one, or even a different lab and continue your saved work. Software for all of the classes online or not are installed, so if you had to, you don't need your own computer to take any classes. wireless is free, fast and easy to access, and every lab has a laser printer networked in. students get the first 10 pages free per day, and every one after that is 10 cents. They also have copy machines student can use. same as above on paper usage. Very, very handy and cheap for students.
- Academic Experience: AWESOME. This is the best part about my experience at this college! I was freaking out, because I didn't know if I had what it takes to finish the calculus series and become an engineer, but this place really helped put me through! If you are willing to work hard and take advantage of the opportunities you have at this place, you'll learn more stuff than you thought you could. My Calculus instructor in particular was the best possible combination of knowledgeable, professional, helpful, and generous that I've ever, and probably will ever, run across in a teacher. In calc. the notes from lecture were posted on the internet, so you could concentrate on the concepts you were trying to learn at the time, and not on note-taking. And then, the comprehensive notes are still there for you to use on homework on the internet, complete with examples and everything. There is no better worry-free, maximized learning opportunity for any student, and I mean it! My physics and Chemistry instructor were also very professional, yet helpful, although not quite as much as the calc. prof.. I felt like a dud in high school, but if you want to get your rear in gear and make something for yourself at school like I did, this is a good place to do it! The amount of homework assigned per hour in lecture was not at all overburdening, but just enough to incur a certain level of student responsibility and keep learning moving along. Class sizes were small, which made it fun, and easy to make friends.
- Student Body: Fort Scott Community College has an extremely diverse community. All class sizes vary in size and diversity among classmates. Different personal views of each individual is recognized respectfully and I love it.
- Campus Quality: FSCC is filled with a diverse community that continues to help each other in times of need. Getting help with something never seems to be an issue. The faculty is very helpful and friendly, especially to new freshmen.*(4)
